After eight decades, Gibbs Hardware remains committed to being our communities’ most-trusted hardware store. 

Folks count on our helpful staff and great customer service, plus all the products needed to complete projects big or small.

Founded by B.E. Gibbs in 1945, Gibbs Hardware first opened in Ashland, Kentucky, to serve Boyd County. Twenty years after that, B.E.’s son, Jim, took over the business. Then in 2003, Jim’s nephew, CC, and his wife, Julie, bought it and began running the Ashland store. 

After eight years, CC and Julie opened a second location, Gibbs Hardware of Grayson in Carter County, in 2011. 

The Grayson location quickly evolved to be more than a hardware store, becoming an authorized STIHL dealer less than a year after opening, and soon began offering rental equipment, as well.

In 2024, after 14 years of running the Ashland and Grayson businesses, CC and Julie made the heartbreaking decision to let go of the Ashland store.

With renewed focus now solely on the Grayson store, CC and Julie continue the Gibbs’ family tradition of serving our community, and look forward to many years of helping customers in Grayson and surrounding areas with all of their project needs.
